It’s sunny today, with a cool crisp, October undertone. The cool edge makes me frisky – an invigorating contrast with the slice of sun warming my back. After record North Carolina highs into early October, I doubt we’ll have much of a show of fall foliage. But, we must remember this: we’ll always have garnets.

Gem & jewelry photographer Robert Weldon shot this collection of warmly colored garnets about fifteen years ago. My client had acquired the garnets over a few years, building quite an interesting collection. The cushion-shaped, burgundy-colored Rhodolite Garnet in the center is about 35 carats.
